Why I decided to become a Matilda Jane Trunk Keeper

September 25, 2018 Leave a Comment

It’s official. My online boutique is now closed.

It was a bittersweet decision for me to make.

As my coaching clientele started to grow, I was having trouble also carrying an inventory and fulfilling orders.

My “mom hat” is permanently affixed to my head, at least for the next 15 years, so squishing “inventory carrying boutique owner” and “boutique business coach” on top of my head was proving challenging.

I still very much love fashion, and styling women to feel comfortable and beautiful brings me joy.

As the LUVVUL app finalizes everything on their end, I decided to do the thing I’ve always called a “fantasy” – become a Matilda Jane Trunk Keeper!

I fell in love with Matilda Jane clothing at a vendor event I was doing years ago! The pieces are not only beautiful and unique, but they’re high quality.

I found myself shopping sales and Good Luck Trunk events often, and branched out (and fell in love with!) the women’s clothing.

Yep, everything here is Matilda Jane!

But what really sealed the deal for me is that Matilda Jane aligns with my own personal values of “doing fashion better” – their mission is to keep little girls little. They are inclusive with the models that they choose, showcasing a modern, accurate picture of today’s American girl, and they give back to multiple charities.

Matilda Jane is currently offering a sign up special for new trunk keepers, so I closed my eyes, held my nose, and signed up! Eek!

(PS – there was an application, an interview process AND they offer zip code protection! Trunk Keepers are also allowed to concurrently sell accessories or own their own independent boutique.)

My rack and hangers have arrived, but I’m still waiting on the clothes. I’m so excited I can hardly stand it!

The new season launches October 1, but for now you can shop the Good Luck Trunk – past season favorites at steeply discounted prices. The best!

Good Luck Trunk closes tomorrow, and items sell out quick, so hop on!

I will admit, deciding to become a Matilda Jane Trunk Keeper was a tricky decision for me. Ultimately, I am excited to be able to offer clothing and styling that not only aligns with my business brand values, but allows me to fit my crazy 3 kid lifestyle into everything!

I hope that you fall in love with the brand as I have!

Happy shopping, or better yet, host a trunk show! I am kicking myself for never hosting, now that I see how amazing the rewards are!

  • This guy’s turn to be sick, so we went on a Valentine’s Day date to Trader Joe’s and ate free cupcakes and went on a mission to find Ralphie the stuffed buffalo. His fever has been gone all day so he was bummed to miss the festivities at school. Trader Joe’s ALMOST made up for it though. .

  • Do you buy or sell on Poshmark? It’s a side hustle for me and I’ve become super addicted of late! If you do, what’s your name? And if you don’t, sign up and use the link in my bio to get $5 in Posh credit! .

  • Okay, two things about me: a) I’m a huge dork and b) I have OCD (like I actually do, not just OMGIMSOOCDICOLORCOORDINATEMYCLOSET) I looooove to compartmentalize and categorize because it soothes me.
.
.
Also (oops I guess this is 3 things) I love personality tests, political affiliation quizzes, etc. I can tell you my color lens and my Meyers-Briggs type and even what breed of dog I am! .
.
So when my nerdy self was poking around five thirty eight one night and saw this, I got way too excited. And I’ll be darned if it’s not the most accurate quiz I’ve taken so far!
.
.
Go take it (it’s on @fivethirtyeight ‘s site) and see if you agree with your results. And then come back and share because, well, I’m a nerd. And apparently also Ned Flanders. Hidey ho!
