What should I wear to the work holiday party?
We have all asked ourselves this very question, some of us every darn December!
With more and more mobile offices or business casual dress codes, it’s hard to know what’s appropriate attire for the holiday office party!
Or maybe you’re a stay at home or work at home mom, so your uniform consists of jeans or leggings, so you don’t exactly have a ton of gowns to choose from hanging in your closet.
Have no fear! I’m here to give you a few suggestions on what to wear to a holiday office party.
I absolutely hate anything that isn’t comfortable, so everything I suggest will be comfortable. And I like to get the most bang for my buck, so everything I suggest will be something you can wear again and again.
First up, the old standard, the LBD.
Do you have a little black dress in your closet?
This one is buttery soft, has 3/4 length sleeves (I tend to run cold) and – huge bonus – pockets!
You can wear it with some brightly colored tights and chunky shoes for a totally different look, you can throw a vest over it and wear it with boots and make it casual and boho, or you can wear it with pumps and pearls for a chic, understated, Jackie O look.
Both of these pieces will look fantastic paired with your favorite jeans and a simple tee or sweater, upping your game from basic to fashionista.
Add a rhinestone clutch and some embellished pumps and you are ready for your holiday office party!
Are you more adventurous than the standard LBD? A dramatic maxi dress with some sparkly accessories is sure to help you stand out.
If you’re wanting to stand out from the crowd just a little bit, this gorgeous maxidress fits the bill.
The shape is flattering, elegant and sophisticated, but the dress itself is actually buttery soft and has pockets, so you’ll be comfortable and classy.
When you are wearing a top with a v-neck line, you want to wear a necklace that also falls into a v-shape, whether it’s a long pendant necklace, or a necklace like this one, the Trades of Hope Shasta fringe necklace.
I love that this necklace is a little bit bold, a little bit boho, and still feminine. The length is adjustable and it looks amazing over a simple white tee.
Whether you are wearing your hair up or down, one (or both!) of these sequin headbands will add a touch of the free spirit to your elegant office holiday party look.
These are great for those messy bun days when you don’t have time to wash your hair – they’re a total short cut fake out on looking put together!
Clutches are back in in a big way, and this one by Able is to die for. The fold over style means it can hold a lot more stuff than your typical clutch, and it would look fantastic dressed up, or with your most broken in, distressed jeans and a loose plaid top.
If I said “this clutch is clutch” would you stop reading? Yeah? Okay, then let’s pretend I didn’t.
Add some black boots (told you I run cold – no open toed shoes for me, thank you very much!) and some simple gold earrings like the Trades of Hope Mombasa earrings, and you are golden – see what I did there?
Hopefully you’re feeling inspired to get glammed up for your next office holiday party!
